Checklist

A simple 5-point checklist can help you realize a successful retirement. Follow each step, one after the other, until your plan is finalized.

1. Make a list of your retirement goals.

2. Do some accounting. Find out what you have now and what is reasonable to expect at retirement.

3. Create a budget that you can use for your retirement years. Make sure you consider all expenses, no matter how small or mundane.

4. Talk about the plan you have established for retirement with your partner or family. Adjust the plan or make compromises to suit all involved.

5. Seek out a respectable financial planner. A financial planner will be able to answer any questions you may have and help you if you get stuck on any of the previous four points in this checklist.
